Mothers' Union April 2017

We were very pleased to welcome Laura Sayburn to our meeting to talk with us about Dementia. Laura’s aim was to give us an understanding of dementia and that people can live well depending on where they are with the disease. Laura involved us in playing an interactive game of bingo using words and a yes and no game to her questions about dementia. This prompted discussion and it was surprising how different our views were on what people can and can’t do once they have been diagnosed, and how narrow our view can be. Laura invited us all to be a dementia friend. Most of us signed up to it. We were all given a badge and will all receive a pack with a little book of friendship in it, with tips and ideas about being a dementia friend. Laura is based at Scarlett House in Stroud and warmly welcomed us to pop in anytime. Our evening was very thought provoking.

With love Glenis
