Mothers' Union December 2017

“...for we have seen his star in the East and have come to worship him...”   Matthew 2:2

Our November meeting was very much a homespun event. Glenis led the opening worship on the theme of Stars. We had the bible reading of the arrival of the three wise men; two readings from the Mothers’ Union book ‘Angels Tread Softly’; an Advent prayer and concluded with the Mothers’ Union prayer.

Quite a number of people had sent apologies for this meeting but fortunately no one was ill. Happy birthday was sung to Gladys, Olga and Kay who all have November birthdays.

Glenis then gave out notices and explained what we would be doing. For the crib service a lot of stars were needed. Everyone was given a card with two stars to cut out and we then were invited to decorate them with all sorts of sparkly things. All enjoyed the exercise.

As the next day was Gladys’ birthday, we were treated to a slice of cake with our cuppa which was much appreciated, along with the usual ‘yummies’ generously donated by Ivy.

Our next meeting is on 21st December and is our Christmas Party. All members are asked to bring someone else along by personal invitation. There will be carols, prayers, a sketch and, of course, food and plenty of time to chat.

We look forward to seeing you there (member or not, all welcome).

Love Kay
