Mothers' Union May 2017

Dear Fellow Members,

We experienced a lovely shortened form of the Women’s World Day of Prayer Service at our April meeting led very ably by Olga.  A number of us were given parts to read and there was much food for thought about the lives of the people (and women in particular) in the Philippines. Part of the service was to study a very thought provoking artwork about the inequalities in their lives. The music and singing were omitted from this version but those of you who came to the service at the beginning of March will remember lovely music and hymns.

After the service Glenis gave Olga a beautiful bunch of flowers and some sweets, to which the members had contributed, to thank Olga for 7 years as branch leader.

There followed a free time of tea and cake (provided by Glenis and Ivy) and chat.

At our May meeting (Thurs. 18th May) we welcome Jan Ryder from Longfield and, as we (the MU) are a charity, members were informed that there will be an optional collection for Longfield after the talk.

Our June meeting will be in church when we will be looking at the ‘Experience Church’ displays.

We are, as always, grateful to Hazelwood for letting us use their lounge and to Gladys and Brenda who always make us welcome.

With love,   Kay

Subscription for Families First is due, so I will be asking those who subscribe for their money soon.

The next MU committee meeting will be on Monday May 22nd at 10.30am at Glenis’s – if anyone has anything they want the committee to discuss please let Glenis know before then.
