Mothers' Union November 2019

Dear Fellow Members,

At our October meeting we welcomed Helen Barton and Dorothy Marshall (previous joint Presidents) who came to encourage and enthuse us with the MULOA initiative.  MULOA stands for: Mothers Union Listens, Observes and Acts.

The first part of this was a bible study on the Feeding of the 5000.  Whilst studying this passage (Mark 6: 30-44) we were asked to consider questions about how Mothers’ Union makes a difference.  Who’s lives are we, or could we, be touching.  Who and what else influences them (helps and hindrances).  What difference are we, or could we, make in people’s lives and How do we, or could we, make a difference.  This provoked much discussion which we were encouraged to continue and look at what our little branch could do. The session ended with a lively dramatized version of the bible study. Helen and Dorothy were thanked for their input.

Our November meeting is a ‘crafty’ meeting which is to prepare items for the Crib Service on Christmas Eve. Nothing too strenuous.  Do come along, member or not, to help with this preparation.

December is our Christmas Party and preparations are under way...

I must thank those members who have already paid their subscription for 2020.  50% of you – well done! Please can those who have not yet paid give me their dues as soon as possible please.

£27 ordinary membership and £19 for Indoor membership. Cheques should be made payable to ‘St Cyr’s Stonehouse Mothers’ Union’.  Many thanks.

I’m sure, like me, you are looking forward to Christmas and especially to the Advent Service in church on 1st December. A time to reflect and prepare.

Mothers’ Union has it’s Deanery Advent Service at St Lawrence’s Church Hall on Wednesday 4th December at 2pm.  Again, you don’t have to be a member to attend. Just come along and enjoy an hour of song and readings.  The Christmas tree displays will be in the church for you to go and see as well.  We look forward to seeing you.  If anyone would like a lift to this please contact Glenis.

With love                                                         Kay
