Mothers' Union September 2018

Dear Fellow Members,

As you read this we will be recalling our rather hot summer during August.  We, the committee, hope you all have had a restful August and that those of you who have been away have enjoyed your break.

The 9th August was Mary Sumner Day, Founder of the Mothers’ Union.  For some years now we have celebrated this day by inviting members, along with friends and family, to join in an afternoon picnic somewhere in the county. This year we went to Shurdington to their Village Hall which has a nice grass area alongside.  There was plenty of room for everyone. Two members, Peter and Kathie Cottey, were celebrating their Golden Wedding so there was cake to be cut and shared round. Those who wished could visit the church but most of us enjoyed a relaxing afternoon sitting and chatting with friends. There was no shortage of conversation or tea. The afternoon concluded with a short service.

Monday 3rd September 11.20 to 12.10pm is our time slot for the Wave of Prayer. This year those who can will be meeting at the home of Joan Vick.  Please come along at 10.45 to enjoy a cuppa before we start. If you need a lift please ask Glenis.

Thursday 20th September is our usual Branch Meeting at Hazelwood when we will be going through the Wave of Prayer Service again for those of you who could not come on the day.

The Mothers’ Union collect knitting wool and cards (fronts only) for the Ruby Group at Eastwood Park Prison.

I have just taken three carrier bags of cards and wool to Alma who runs the group and she was most grateful as she is getting very short.

We are putting this plea in our magazine in case anyone can contribute.

Please contact me for any further information.   Many thanks,  Kay
